Speedminton, a new dimension in racquet sports, combines tennis, badminton, and racquetball (and is endorsed by 2006 U.S. Open Champion Maria Sharapova). Easy to learn for beginners, many advanced players enjoy the complexity involved in its mastery. This game can be played anywhere by using the dimensions of a tennis court (although you don't need a net to play). Fun and portable like badminton yet Speedminton is an aerobic and competitive sport like racquetball and a lot of fun for the whole family. Three different Speeders allow for different types of play: * Fun Speeder can be used by beginners or for recreational volleys on the beach or in a park. * Match Speeder is for fast and competitive play. * Night Speeder is modified so that a Speedlight can be inserted at the base. The set includes: * Two Speedracquets made of high-quality, extruded aluminum for maximum durability * Three Speeders made from patented, aerodynamic materials, each for a different kind of play * Four Speedlights for up to three hours of after-dark play * One Speedbag for carrying portability * One Wind Ring for all-weather play * Eight cones for court markers

4A little over-advertized  Mar 27, 2006 By Lux Lucis
The game is definitely fun, especially if you play it on a tennis court. The birdie is smaller and flies faster than in traditional badminton games. Hitting the birdie and directing it to the right spot is easier than I anticipated, especially considering the small size of the racket. Once the game gets going, the enjoyment level is fairly high, but falls short of the promised thrill in the product promo texts. Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that, in spite of all the hype and promises, the game is far from being wind resistant. A little better than badminton, but still can be ruined by anything stronger than a breeze. The "wind ring" is ineffective, feels more like a placebo.

Overall, if you paid under $30 for this set, you probably are going to get your money's worth out of playing it. Try it, and expect it to be a fast version of badminton.

5great fun  Apr 17, 2006 By C. Corwin
This is truly a fun family game. All ages can easily play together -- we were playing two on two with 9 and 10 year olds against adults. It is worth every penny and I love that you can play it anywhere.

One potential problem I see is the cone markers. I have an older version that has sand bags connected by strings so your court is always the correct size, so I can't say how easy the cones are to set up in the right dimensions. I don't know why they got rid of the sand bags and strings -- this was a great way to set up the court so you know exactly where the inbound line is.

Overall -- hours of fun for the whole family.

5Great equipment  Jan 09, 2007 By A. Mattos
We tried the Speedminton game over the holidays and thought it was lots of fun. Unlike badminton, the birdie is more sturdy and flies more accurately. The racquets are more like racquetball racquets and are also very sturdy. We were impressed that we could play the game at the very breezy beachside, with a few minor adjustments to our swing. Also, since the racquets are not too heavy, there was no arm fatigue. We've played Smashball at the beach for years, and when we picked up those paddles to play (after playing Speedminton) we thought they felt heavy and awkward. We will have years of fun with this game.

3lots of fun but shoddy quality  Jan 19, 2009 By Yury
This is a great game. I've been playing regular badminton for a long time and this is definitely much more fun and a better cardio workout. The only drawback is poor workmanship of the rackets. The plastic tape covering the handles started to come loose after only a few games and soon came off completely, turning the racket handles into a gluey mess. I fixed the problem by removing the original tape and replacing it with the replacement tape for tennis rackets.

4Good Fun, Birdies fall apart.  Jun 07, 2006 By N. Kerrick
We opened the set and started out great, But in one Afternoon all of the Birdies or "Speeders" fell apart. I have emailed the manufacturer and hopefuly they will come up with a tougher design.
